“Partly Free” The New York-based Freedom House has downgraded 
the Philippines from a free democracy to a partly-free one. You should be worried.
Blood flowed during the Marcos regime when nationalists fought for the democratic air that you and I enjoy today. This democracy that we take so much for granted is now  being threatened and diluted.
 
Like many things in
life, freedom is
something that
needs nurturing and
protection.
There was a time when people had to look over their shoulders, check who was within hearing distance, before they could talk. You couldn’t have meetings of more than three people and feel safe.
There was a
heavy pall of
terror over the
country for many
years.
 
And that wasn’t
too long ago.
